My World in Print
Emily Topper is a staff writer for the Plant City Times & Observer in Plant City, Florida, a position that she has held since May 2015. The Plant City Times & Observer is a hyper-local weekly paper that is part of a partnership between Observer Media Group and the Tampa Bay Times.
Emily graduated cum laude from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, in May 2015 with a degree in communication, emphasis in journalism, and a minor in creative writing. While at Flagler, Emily served as the opinion writer for the Flagler College Gargoyle, the music director for the non-commercial radio station WFCF 88.5 FM and a fiction editor for FLARE: The Flagler Review. In 2015, Emily was a regional finalist for commentary writing for the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as a recepient of the Flagler Communication's department excellence in academic achievement award. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, Sigma Tau Delta and Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities.
In addition to her print and multimedia work in Plant City, Emily has also been published in Tampa Style Magazine, Orlando Style Magazine and Narrow Magazine. Her first short story, "Something Better" was published in the online literary journal The Writing Disorder in the spring of 2013.
