My World in Print

Emily Topper is a staff writer for the Plant City Times & Observer in Plant City, Florida, a position that she has held since May 2015. The Plant City Times & Observer is a hyper-local weekly paper that is part of a partnership between Observer Media Group and the Tampa Bay Times. 

Emily graduated cum laude from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, in May 2015 with a degree in communication, emphasis in journalism, and a minor in creative writing. While at Flagler, Emily served as the opinion writer for the Flagler College Gargoyle, the music director for the non-commercial radio station WFCF 88.5 FM and a fiction editor for FLARE: The Flagler Review. In 2015, Emily was a regional finalist for commentary writing for the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as a recepient of the Flagler Communication's department excellence in academic achievement award. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, Sigma Tau Delta and Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities. 

In addition to her print and multimedia work in Plant City, Emily has also been published in ​Tampa Style Magazine, Orlando Style Magazine and Narrow Magazine. Her first short story, "Something Better" was published in the online literary journal The Writing Disorder in the spring of 2013.
